Loving red-brick pavers

I've been infatuated with red brick pavers for years now. I find them timeless and beautiful.

I'm in the process of planning my landscaping project in my backyard and I'm obviously thinking of having red-brick pavers installed, especially since the exterior side and back wall of my house has red brick.

The contractor we've hired has suggested cobblestone-style looking pavers that are also very attractive but I just keep thinking about the red brick style.

Here is an image of the cobblestone-style pavers suggested by the contractor:

Here are some images of the brick paver style I keep dreaming about:

The bricks in the above image are a great color- nice and red with a little bit of gray which would match the pavers in the front of my house.

Brick pavers can be used to create a variety of patterns. Here are a few ideas:

The herringbone pattern is my absolute favorite and I love the way the edges are done in the following image:

Another possibility is the following pattern which involves fewer cuts, pavers and less time, therefore less $$$.

Decisions, decisions! Which pavers do you think I should pick: brick or cobblestone?

Bright and Cheery Laundry Rooms

In the last post I mentioned that one of my 2012 projects that must get completed soon is the laundry room. It's a room that we gutted in 2008 after our basement flooded and we have slowly, very slowly, been putting it back together. The previous post showed a variety of organizing ideas for the laundry room. Today's post will show you some beautiful inspirational laundry rooms.

Who wouldn't want to do laundry in any of these rooms:

What I think makes many of the above rooms so great is the natural sunlight provided by their window(s). Unfortunately I don't have a window in my laundry room but I'll use the lovely blues and greens shown in many of the above images to brighten up the room. Can't wait to share the final result.

Laundry Room Organizing Ideas

Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend.

I have a ton of projects on the go: nursery, laundry room, kids playroom, outdoor landscaping and oh ya- a baby on the way:)

The laundry room has been on my to-do list for about 4 years- that's a long time! Every year I work on one part of it but then get side tracked by other projects. But the time has officially come when it will be completed- it must be completed before the baby arrives as I'll be using cloth diapers and want a pretty room in which to wash those cute baby diapers.

Here are some inspirational images I've been pinning for a while now. Not all of these ideas will be incorporated into my room but maybe you'll be inspired to organize your laundry room with these ideas.

Laundry detergent and lost socks storage:

Another lost socks idea:

All those cleaning tools need a home:

Drying racks are a must. Much better than laying my clothes out on the couch to dry (which is what I'm currently doing):

Laundry chute- this is a dream, especially this one. Love this chute!

Shelving over the door is a great use of space:

Necessary knowledge:

And my very favorite- a little reminder of the importance of laundry:

It's spring so let's organize laundry rooms around the world!
