Vestibule done- 4 years in the making!

A few weeks ago I posted about my search for a full length mirror with a curved top for my entrance hall. Unfortunately I didn't find one - actually I fortunately didn't find one. Here is why:

One merry little day as I went through my blog roll I saw this picture

I then said "Hey, I have that mirror! Where is it??? Oh, it's hidden behind the bed in the guest bedroom!" I dropped the laptop, ran into the bedroom, moved the bed, pulled out the heavy mirror, ran into the entry hall, held up the mirror and did a happy dance. I loved the look of the old mirror against the wood paneling. The mirror belonged to my mother in law but I kept it thinking that I could use it in the bathroom remodel- luckily it didn't work in the bathroom.

So here is the result:

Here is a close-up of the mirror:

Other little items were added such as:
The little bench purchased at Finnegan's Market in Hudson for 30$ and this umbrella stand (actually a tall vase) purchased at Home Sense for 25$.

And the cherry on top- this deer head key hook purchased at Zone on St. Denis for 9$. I love it!

So let's review this little halls transformation:
In 2006 when we purchased the house.

In 2008 after completing the wood paneling to mask the ugly tiles seen above.

Today- 2010. 4 years in the making:) I like the wood but found that it was maybe too much. I find mirror cuts the all the wood, softens all the hard edges and adds some visual interest.

Thanks for reading and I'd love to know what you think.
